Who We Are

The National Breakaway Roping Association (NBRA) is a district-based organization dedicated exclusively to the sport of breakaway roping. Our mission is to provide structured and consistent competition opportunities for youth, collegiate, open, and senior competitors while building a clear progression pathway from local districts to state and national levels.


NBRA is committed to integrity, organization, and long-term growth of the sport across the United States.

Built for Every Level

Membership Divisions

  • Little Loopers (12 & Under)
    • Entry-level membership for our youngest ropers.
  • Youth (13–18)
    • Membership for youth competitors.
  • Adult
    • Membership for adult competitors.
  • Senior (50+)
    • Membership for competitors age 50 and above.

Competition Divisions

  • Little Loopers (12 & Under)
  • Youth –(13-18) Separate Female and Male Divisions
  • Adult – (19-49) Female & Male Divisions
  • Senior Division (50+)
  • Open Division – Open to any and all ccompetitors
  • Pro Division – Access TBD
  • Dummy Roping – offered at the discretion of district representatives.

How NBRA Works

  • District-based competition structure
  • Sanctioned events hosted by approved arenas and district leadership
  • Points earned at any NBRA sanctioned event count toward National qualification
  • State Finals qualification based on points earned within that state
  • Rules and Articles of Operation released as finalized by leadership

Organized regional competition with standardized rules and leadership.

Unified standards, sponsorship partnerships, and national visibility.

Founding Season – 2026

NBRA is currently in its founding phase.
We are actively building district leadership, youth representation, collegiate partnerships, and national sponsorship alignment.
